O TIGER!!!!

Of all the bad things that happened in this sordid saga, one thing I really like is the universal condemnation he was accorded. I wonder if he would've gotten the same response in India. I cant stand Tiger Woods now (not that he's going to mind!!), but I do appreciate his honesty(??) in at least admitting to his misdeeds instead of trying to call his wife a psycho for attacking him to the point of injuring him. And yes, as is expected, they were having a bad time prior to the midnight bashing he got(well deserved, I might add!!)Good for you Erin!!

And as we all know, every marriage must have their Rachel Uchitel. I cant believe how desperate this woman is. Not only is she unashamed, but is eagerly waiting for the divorce to come through so she can have her"turn" at the golden goose. Really!!!I suppose she's forgotten what someone in Hyderabad doesn't - He was already cheating on her with (18 isn't it?) other mistresses!!!

I really admire Erin for walking out and giving him a good swing with the club. It cant have been easy. Good luck kid and leave him to his Uchitels.Let him find out for himself what he lost. You're much better than that.....

Women, women

Why are women so mean to other women?? Period. Can we all give each other a break. Scholars say it is due to social conditioning.
This New Year, it is my blessed wish (other than to get a cute dog) that we women will be kinder to each other.
The way men have been supressing us and conditioning us to think about whats right and not, about whats natural, so that we accept discrimination against women as 'normal' whatever that is. Lets not allow the men to hijack 'normal'.
Another way they do this is by praising and promoting 'good' girls, who more often than not will be some poor child who epitomises all that men want the women to be.
Hey, Im not condemnong men, or hate them, but I thinl a rethink is necessary, minus a battle of the sexes. Plus, I'm not really for the 'bra-burners' either. Really, Im more for a middle-path approach. Right now, it's too skewed up, the relationship ratio ie; Lets all do our bit to change this un-equal ratio.

INTRUSION

While the definition of “marriage” still eludes anthropologists, it hasn’t stopped them from classifying marriages. Of such several types is “marriage by intrusion”, others being “probationary marriage” seen among the Kukis, “marriage by trial” as seen among the Bhils, “marriage by capture” as seen among the Nagas, and so on.

When a girl zeroes in on her choice of a mate and the man is un-willing, she resorts to “Intrusion” and thrusts herself on the poor man! She obstinately refuses to leave his house where she is subjected to humiliation, insult and harsh treatment, turned out, refused food and even beaten. However inspite of all this if she still refuses to abandon her intentions, she is finally accepted as one of those impossible persons before whose obstinacy one has to yield!

I have heard (but cannot claim to have seen) of many such cases in Aizawl, Mizoram and the Northeast, and am greatly alarmed at the trend which has un-officially become accepted. Families of eligible ( sometimes debate able) bachelors seem to have this protective air about their precious bachelors, which of course makes them look ridiculous, even if he actually is highly eligible, which they rarely are! I have seen super rich, seriously eligible bachelors in other cities who behave perfectly normal, as do their families. What is the problem in the Northeast then?

Much has to do, I think with the fact that we are a very young people. Families get some kind of pride that something they’ve created is getting them attention. This by co-relation extends to them and it makes them feel wanted. A nice feeling for people on the way up, but a pretty normal feeling for people who have seen it happen many many times. Such people rarely “guard” their precious princes and the princes themselves are used to all the attention (water off a duck’s back) and rarely end up getting “trapped”!!

Another relevant point is the social acceptance that such liaisons get. I find it exceedingly strange that in this day and age – I mean, what ever happened to contraceptives? – a girl manages to carry a man’s child again and again inspite of such “protectiveness”. And what’s more, the persistent girl is accepted by the family and society as well as the boy himself (this I find too strange) after some time!! I mean after a few years, hey presto! the very same man is all lovey dovey with the same girl he desperately rejected and treats his “wife” just as he would have if he had slain ten dragons to win her hand. This essentially means that 1) the boy has no mind of his own
2) he has a habit of getting into an intimate situation without using contraceptives with anyone who desires to have such relations.
3) he does’nt mind his children being brought up by such a mother
4) he actually wants such a woman

I have a HUGE problem with this because in all this, the person who’s affected the most is the girl. It is the worst form of degradation that a girl can put herself through. It entails a total loss of pride and dignity, that too in public. When society itself is perpetuating such a trend, yes it is, it can only lead to a lowering of status for women, resulting in girls with no self respect. And we all know that that can never be good.

In effect this would mean that societies practicing such trends are suppressing their women and encouraging their suppression. Such a society, in my opinion, can never progress and that any apparent changes are only cosmetic and cannot last. A society that teaches its women that humiliating themselves and losing their self-respect is perfectly normal and acceptable is not even a society actually. It ought to call itself an un-civilized jungle!!!

WHY??????

Have you guys noticed the tussle thats going on between Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston over Brad Pitt? Come on girls, HES NOT WORTH IT!!! This exceedingly beautiful woman snatched Brad Pitt away from Jennifer Aniston while they were shooting for the movie "Mr. and mrs.Smith".
Jennifer Aniston who has frequently been on the worlds most beautiful list herself, is ANGRY and, besides having the sympathy of most, is trying her utmost to win back Brad Pitt. She met Brad Pitt's mom shortly after their break up which made Angelina RED. SCORE ONE JEN.

Next,a few months back, before Cannes, she managed to have a date with Brad Pitt which is supposed to have shaken him. He looked distracted at Cannes. Angelina with the reddest lips had him firmly within her lovely clutches and didnt look one bit disturbed. Anyway, SCORE TWO JEN.

ROUND THREE Sensing Brad Pitts discomfiture, Jen notched things up just a bit up by appearing on the cover of GQ in a ahem! NECKTIE!!!! SCORE THREE JEN (She DID look so good, in a clean sort of way!!)

Why on God's green earth would these two lovely ladies do all this over this man??? Angelina is soooooooo good looking it's almost unbelievable. And yet she's dieting and working out so much her veins are sticking out of her neck and hands!! No peace with the prize either!! And I'm sick and tired of her falling all over a dis-interested Mr.Pitt photos. Check out the way she's GUSHING over him! The body language is a dead give away. Plus, knowing the wholesome image Jen has, Angelina is even trying to tone herself down and is as well behaved as possible. Jennifer is no shrinking violet either and is still single and is prone to making sarcastic remarks about a certain actress!! Hmm! we'll just have to wait for the next round.

GOOSEBERRIES

The wonderful gooseberry aka "sunhlu" in Mizo, "amla" in Hindi and "usurkaya" in Telugu is probably the best food that I've come across lately. It's unadulterated "healthy". Few foods can compete with this humble giant of goodness. Especially since it's in season now and easily available, and doesnt cost much have an "usurkaya" all!
It's high fibre content and high vitamin C content is unbeatable. I personally saw all my blemishes vanish after I ate nothing but amla for one night. Miracle - my skin was glowing the next morning!!
It's such potent stuff it can be dried and used as oil and in the powder form too. I believe it's even used very effectively as hair oil. In short its an all rounder - is the "usurkaya"!
THREE CHEERS FOR THE "Phyllanthus emblica"!!!
